The European Children’s Hospitals Organisation is aware of the importance of the regulations in force regarding privacy and data protection. In this sense, we are concerned about the protection of the security, integrity, veracity and confidentiality of the data provided by our members, partners or suppliers and act responsibly and transparently in this regard.

This Privacy Policy (hereinafter, "The Policy") is intended to inform you about how we collect, treat and protect the personal data you provide. Likewise, we describe the purposes of the processing of personal data collected through the website www.echohospitals.org (hereinafter, "the Website"), or by telephone, SMS, email or postal mail. We will not share your data with third parties.  

Our Policy does not regulate the data processing activities of other companies and organizations that advertise our services and / or products.

This Privacy Policy applies to the data provided by our members, users, persons requesting information, users of the Website www.echohospitals.org, candidates for jobs or third parties with whom we we can relate and whose data are necessary for the development of our activity.

What information do we collect?

The European Children’s Hospitals Organisation only utilizes personal data that are appropriate, pertinent and limited to the correct fulfilment of the purpose under which they were initially collected.

In most cases the data collected will be limited to contact information including first and last names, telephone number or email.  We will also collect the IP address that is used when you access the Website which may be used for statistical purposes.  

For what purpose do we collect your data?

The data you provide us are collected for the following purposes:

  • Manage administrative tasks related to ECHO membership.
  • Know your browsing preferences on our Website in order to customize and improve our services and maintain the security of the site. Thus, the European Children’s Hospitals Organisation will obtain statistics that by monitoring your IP number will show the number of page impressions, the number of visits made to web services, the order of visits or the access point, among other magnitudes.

How long do we keep your data?

We will keep your data for as long as your institution maintains a relationship with the European Children’s Hospitals Organisation.

When are we entitled to process your data?

We are entitled and authorized to process your data (i) when such information is necessary for the sending of the requested information; (ii) for the management of the Website (and its associated services); and (iii) for compliance with mandatory legal obligations deriving from the Law of the European Union or the Member States.

The European Children’s Hospitals Organisation will adopt the necessary actions to guarantee that the personal data it collects, stores and processes are used in a lawful, fair and transparent way, complying with the obligations that derive from applicable legislation governing its activity. Your consent will imply that it is freely given, unequivocal, specific and informed. You have the right to withdraw any consent given without retroactive effect for any reason and at any time.

With whom may we share your data?

Your data will be shared with other members of the European Children’s Hospitals Organisation as needed for normal functioning of the organisation.

Irrespective of the above, prior to transferring your personal data to other private entities we will notify you beforehand and request your consent.

What rights protect you in relation to the processing of your data?

You have the right to obtain information about the processing of your data that we carry out at the European Children’s Hospitals Organisation.  Specifically: 

  • You have a right to access your personal data to learn which data we are processing, and to request the rectification of any inaccurate data or, where applicable, request its deletion when, among other reasons, the data are no longer required for the purposes for which it was gathered.

The SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital will stop processing your data, except for compelling legitimate grounds or in accordance with taking action for legal defense purposes.
  • You will have the right to portability, that is to say, the personal data you have provided will be transmitted directly to another person in a structured format, commonly used and mechanically read, when technically possible.
  • You have a right not to be the subject of a decision based solely on the automated processing of your personal data.

We will respond to your requests as soon as possible but no later than one (1) month of receiving your request. In certain circumstances, this period may be extended for another two (2) months, in which case we will inform you within one (1) month of receiving your request.

In certain circumstances and for reasons that relate to your particular situation, you may oppose the processing of your data. The SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital will stop processing your data, except for compelling legitimate grounds or in accordance with taking action for legal defence purposes.

Is it possible to modify this Privacy Policy?

The European Children’s Hospitals Organisation reserves the right to modify this Policy to adapt it to legislative or jurisprudential changes and to respond to organizational changes. We will not limit your rights under this Privacy Policy or make substantial changes to it without first informing you. We will publish all the modifications of this Privacy Policy on this page and, if changes are significant, we will make a more prominent noticeable notification.
