AICCELERATE was a European Union-funded project that developed and validated scalable artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions designed to improve hospital processes and enhance patient care. The initiative focused on integrating AI tools into a Smart Hospital Care Pathway Engine (SHCP Engine) that could be adapted to different clinical settings and support improved outcomes across diverse healthcare environments.
The project brought together leading hospitals, technology partners, and research organisations to pilot AI-driven digital solutions in areas such as patient flow management, clinical pathway optimisation, and paediatric care delivery. Through these pilots, AICCELERATE demonstrated how interoperable, ethically robust, and user-centred AI tools could support more efficient and patient-centred healthcare systems.
The outcomes of AICCELERATE contributed to the broader adoption of AI and digital innovation in hospital practice and provided valuable evidence on the scalability of AI solutions in European healthcare settings.
